The More Expensive Side of Hawaii

December 14, 2006 by Lazy Man Leave a Comment

Last week, I mentioned how I found the The Cheaper Side of Hawaii. Little did I know at the time that I would find the more expensive side of Hawaii when I switched from Oahu to The Big Island. I spotted a 2 liter of Diet Coke for $2.50 at the grocery store. And that was cheaper than Pepsi (a price I forget).

On a completely random note, ESPN is airing an interesting commercial to me. A gentleman gets up in the middle of the night and works his way through an Asian town to a bar. At the bar he takes off his coat to reveal a USC shirt and sits next to a stranger with a Notre Dame shirt. The TV in the background has the sounds of the game 7,000 miles away. It was as if ESPN watched me on The Big Island last Sunday. It’s a weird experience to go to a bar and watch a game at 8AM. It got slightly uncomfortable as my Patriots beat up on my barstool neighbor’s Green Bay Packers 35-0.
