Quick post today as I don’t have much time. Plus I’m sure that everyone’s going to be buzzing about Jon Stewart’s farewell last night.
For years I haven’t been focused on politics. Instead I focused on what I could control, my own job, finances, love life, etc. That was more than enough to keep me busy. I also had the view that politicians are going to say whatever they can to get elected and then do whatever they want afterwards. (Not sure my view on that has changed.)
I don’t know if it’s just me growing older, but I’ve become more interested in politics over the last few years. I even watched the Republican debate last night.
The lack of interest meant that I didn’t watch much of The Daily Show. I feel like it is one of those things that you don’t appreciate when it is around and only notice it now that it’s gone.
All of this is a long-winded way of introducing Jon Stewart’s final send off. There’s some adult language (obviously from the title of this post), but it’s important. If you need to use adult language to call attention to the problem, then so be it.
So here is Jon Stewart on bullsh!t:
I wanted to focus on the final thoughts from Jon Stewart:
“Bullshitters have gotten pretty lazy… and their word is easily detected. And looking for it is kind of a pleasant way to pass the time. Like an ‘I Spy Game of Bullshit.’ So I say to you tonight, friends. The best defense bullshit is vigilance. If you smell something say something.”
This is why I focus much of the attention of this website on Consumer Protection and MLM Scams.
I smell something, so I’m saying it. Years ago, it felt like it was falling on deaf ears. Now people are listening.
There may always be a form bullsh!t in the world. There’s too much financial incentive to get rid of it all. However, technology is helping more and more people speak up. The most recent MLM scams I’ve written about have gotten a tremendous amount of praise from people on Facebook annoyed with their friends’ pitches of pyramid schemes.
The tide is turning and that’s a great thing. In the meantime, keep up the vigilance, it is your best defense.
