Body Shop Groupon + Mother’s Day = Financial Win

April 25, 2011 by Lazy Man Leave a Comment

A few months ago, there was a big deal on Living Social, a group deal network, that sold $20 Amazon gift certificates for $10. I speculated that they were buying a million customers. Today there’s a deal that’s not quite as good, but I think it’s worthy of attention.

Groupon is offering a $40 voucher to The Body Shop for only $20. If you typically by at The Body Shop, this is a savings of 50% (that’s the limit to my Monday morning math). However, it gets better. If you redeem the voucher by May 30th you get $45 instead of $40 as a bonus. Okay, that $5 isn’t exactly the biggest bonus.

Why do I think this should get attention? It’s just in time for Mother’s Day. Need another reason why I like this deal? My wife participated in one around Christmas and ended up getting tons of product for the money. They are known for their sales. I’m not Body Shop’s typical customer, but I do know that they often have buy 2 get 1 free deals. They also have bundles of products that save money over buying them individually. There’s the potential to spend $20 and get $60-70 worth of product.

Personally, I think the Body Shop’s products are not for the frugal-minded. I get by with my generic, store brand, Dial soap quite well. However, with this deal it might be worth pampering yourself.
