Perfume can be an expensive passion. Never fear, if you want to save money on perfume or cologne, know that you can get that favorite fragrance perfume of yours for a cheaper price than the MSRP if you are willing to shop around a bit. Here are some of the best ways that you can save money on perfume, and no, it doesn’t mean relying on cheap perfume – You can get the good stuff for great prices too!
Searching Online
Another great way to find some of the best perfume prices is to search online. Search through review sites and online retailers and you are bound to find ways to buy perfume at lower prices. This goes both for ladies perfume and men’s cologne, and isn’t limited to the inexpensive stuff but also includes high quality parfum fragrances. You can definitely find a nice range of perfume online, especially through online perfume stores like our fragrance shop. Going directly to Ebay or Amazon can work well if you already know what you want; however, while you are still researching perfume reviews can be an excellent source of information.
Retail Outlets
There are a number of off-price retail outlets such as Marshall’s and T.J. Maxx that are designed to carry a diverse selection of products at prices that are deeply discounted. Believe it or not, you can find some new perfume varieties and some of the more popular women’s perfume varieties here as well. There are also discount perfume stores out there, some of which occupy the most popular malls across the United States.
Non-Traditional Places
Besides the standard perfume store, there are also some nontraditional places where you can find your favorite discontinued perfume spray or perfume oil, including places such as estate sales and even flea markets. It may surprise you at how many different places are available where perfume can be sold, and a surprise perfume sale may be just the ticket to get you your favorite fragrance for an excellent price.
Department Stores
Although a department store is not always the best place to find perfume for sale, department stores do often run promotions that allow you to get a special free gift with your purchase, and these free gifts are often fragrances. So while your local department store may not be the ideal place to shop for fragrances, that doesn’t mean you are without options to find your favorite fragrances or brand new fragrances in these unlikely big box retail stores.
Testers and Samples
If you are really serious about saving money on perfume and cologne, consider collecting samples and testers rather than buying up big bottles of fragrances that you like. Most department store employees are quite generous when it comes to sharing their fragrance perfume testers. Visit the local cosmetic counter and you may be able to simply ask politely to receive some different samples. A perfume tester, when used sparingly, can really go a long way and this will keep you in good quality perfume or cologne for a long time without costing you anything.
There are easy ways to save money on perfume, and many come from unlikely sources. Be willing to shop around a bit and you may be surprised at what you find. Buy it big. I paid $100 for the cologne I wear, but it will last me at least a year. It’s amazing how much more expensive per ounce it is if you buy smaller bottles. I knew I liked the cologne, so I went big (I don’t travel much, but if I did I would consider buying a large one for home and small for travel).
As a guy, I obviously don’t buy a lot of perfume (as you would hope!). But I bought my girlfriend perfume for Christmas last year, and I had one in mind. But if you look like you are shopping around they will give you a better deal. Plus look for those steep after Thanksgiving sales on perfume. I got a great brand super cheap, and they threw in a free purse (or bag or something I’m really not sure…) and she still uses it!
Or find a person who uses WAY too much of the cologne/perfume you like, and hover around them for a few seconds to absorb some of the aroma. You’ll be set for a day (or two)

online perfume shopping is always cheaper. so if you know your brand – not buying online is borderline financial stupidity.
i think buying it at all is borderline financial stupidity.
A great site to purchase discount perfume/cologne from is Perfume.Net. They have a huge selection of fragrances to choose from, and their prices are really good.
Check them out at http://www.perfume.net
Yes, search through various review sites gives you better idea of the fair and trustworthy online retailers and you can find a number of ways to to buy great perfumes at lower discount prices. One such good online store is http://www.perfumejunky.com. Do check it out!
Another idea I’ve seen at local pharmacy’s is the no-name version of the popular fragrances. Unfortunately, most of these don’t last for a whole day so re-applying is necessary.
Duty free is usually another good option.
