Notice: Site May Go Down for Service

April 20, 2020 by Lazy Man Leave a Comment

My host, SiteGround, is saying that I’m using too much CPU power. In fact, it’s using 3x as much as I’m supposed to be able to use. For this reason they’ve threatened to simply shut down the site.

They recommend that my plan is appropriate for sites with 5x the amount of traffic as mine. So we’re off by a factor of 15 – 1/5 the traffic using the 3x the CPU. I haven’t been able to get any personal customer support, just canned responses through their ticketing system.

They’ve given me 24 hours to fix it, but I suspect it may be related to them migrating my site to a new server recently.

I signed up for 3 years of service and the first 6 months, until today, has gone really, really well. I’m pretty much trapped.

This isn’t the kind of thing that I need when I’m spending 9 hours a day homeschooling a K and first grader.
