This week has been a crazy week. Let’s recap:
- I had mentioned that it’s supposedly Mattress season. I don’t know if I mentioned that I bought a mattress at Costco two weeks ago. It was $450+tax after a coupon. It was a much better deal than what we saw in any mattress showroom. What sealed the deal for Energy Gal and I was that the guy in the showroom at a competing place said that he couldn’t compete. He was so honest we bought our futon frame from him – which we needed.
- I got a flat tire on my way to work on Friday of last week, just minutes after I published my last Financial Week in Review. I went to get new tires this weekend. My first stop was Costco, but they didn’t have anything in stock for my car, not an acceptable answer in my opinion. I then went to Goodyear and they had my tires in a price range I was looking for. When we went to look at my car, the salesman pointed out that all my tires were bad. And you know what? He was completely right! They all had major, major wear to the point of being bald in over 50% of the tire. It cost me over $750, but my car hasn’t driven so well in years. It makes me wonder if that simple flat tire might have saved my life. If you take nothing else from this post, look at your tires!
- I saved some decent money this week. Energi Gal has been away on business so I’ve been taking advantage of my work’s free lunch and dinner. As you are reading this, I’m away on a one-day vacation paid for by my company.
Don’t worry too much about the $750 because the new tires will definitely improve your gas mileage.
I love Costco, but the only place around me is Sam’s. It’s ok, but I would much rather shop at Costco.
