Thank You and Happy New Year!

August 24, 2008 by Lazy Man 4 Comments

I’ve been keeping it a little secret, but I’ve had a personal milestone for a week now. Last week, I noticed that I was on pace for 10,000 visitors before the new year. On 12/30 around midnight, I had my 10,000th visitor.

I want to thank you all for coming, and I hope you’ve liked what you’ve read. Have a happy New Year!

Welcome Five Cent Nickel Readers!

December 7, 2006 by Lazy Man Leave a Comment

If you are coming from Five Cent Nickel, welcome! I’m a 30-year old software engineer originally from Boston, but recently relocated to Silicon Valley. I aim for a balanced philosophy of saving money and growing income. So while “a dollar saved is a dollar earned”, I like to say that “a dollar earned is a dollar earned” as well.

To my regular readers:

Mr. Nickel has graciously provided me an opportunity to do a guest post on his site. I decided to write about how I saved money with Ebay in the last month. Please visit Five Cent Nickel. One word of warning… be prepared to spend a few hours and add it to your blog reader. I know I did.

Welcome Energi Gal

December 7, 2006 by Lazy Man 8 Comments

It’s my pleasure to announce an addition to Lazy Man and Money.  The elusive fiancee that I’ve talked about in passing is going to be bringing her own financial thoughts to the site.  Initially she might only post once or twice a week.  There may be weeks where she doesn’t post at all.

Energi Gal will bring an interesting dichotomy to Lazy Man and Money.  She was raised in an atmosphere where personal finance was never talked about and many, many mistakes were made.  In contrast, I grew up reading Kiplinger’s and owning mutual funds at age 14.  She can give an entirely different view point on many issues and raise a lot of new owns.

We are just getting started, stick around it should be a lot of fun.

Welcome

December 14, 2006 by Lazy Man 6 Comments

This blog is about a man, a lazy man, and his quest to not only retire early, but to retire rich enough to live a comfortable lifestyle. I’m a software engineer, so don’t expect journistic quality writing or professional quality money ideas. I’m from the Boston area (just a few miles west) and my motivation for this blog comes in large part from Boston Gal’s Open Wallet. I’m also influenced by Adventures in Money Making who is doing what I haven’t had the guts to do yet and leverage himself big in real estate.

You can expect Lazy Man and Money to be about 85% money, 5% technology (hey, I’m a software guy), 2% health, 5% random soapboxing, and 3% “zany”-ness. Maybe we’ll up that zany as time goes on.
