Alternative Income Streams Progress – July 2007

July 3, 2007 by Lazy Man 5 Comments

I’m a day later than usual for my usual alternative income update, but I didn’t want to separate the two sports posts. This past month, I made “around” $654.92 via my alternative income streams. The uncertainty is due to me being out of town and estimating the last two days of the month. This is after-tax money as always.

It all adds up to a little more than a $100 gain from last month. The biggest gain is due to referring lenders to Prosper. I hope they are responsible with their lending and if you ever want to talk lending strategies, my e-mail is always open to you. I was hesitant to include this money in my alternative income as it’s unlikely to be recurring. However, some of my advertisements are fleeting as well and I’ve counted that, this is really not much different in my mind. The other gains came from Google Adsense for the most part.

What’s the outlook for the future? It seems very positive. I started to get media attention in a couple of national papers. I have a couple more advertisers interested in my site and I think some of them will be finalized shortly. My Prosper account continues to grow and I’m funding some loans that I feel are beyond great. At some point next week, I should give details on some of them. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to cut down on my Necessary Expenses very much this month. With my upcoming wedding, I need to use my savings for those expenses rather than paying down my HELOC more. Some may cringe at this, but the wedding could be a great investment. For one, I won’t hear the lack of a wedding from my wife 20 years down the line. For another, some of the trustees of Boston College should be present, a connection which may help if I decide to get an MBA at some point.

Here’s a page where you can track all my Alternative Income Stream progress. I will update it with this month’s final stats when I get from vacation.

If you invite the right people to your wedding, you’ll find that you’ll make back your expenses in gifts!

Invite as many people as possible, then you will make sure to cover your expenses. Some people might give you gift you wouldn’t believe!

I’ve been watching at you alternative income chart. Your progression is impressive!

Congratulations on the wedding hope it goes well. After the big event you can do a post on how to convert useless wedding gifts into as much money as possible. How do I get to the start of the alternative income postings I have no idea what the figures relate to or how you are earning the extra money. Would be great if you could put up a link which takes new people to your blog back to where it started.

I don’t think useless wedding gifts are going to be any different than any other useless give you might receive. The best ways I can think of is Ebay (for small shippable items) and Craigslist (for the bigger hard-to-ship items).

As for how the figures relate, see the last link to the chart at the end of the post which also links to all my previous posts via my Alternative Income category page.
