appreciated the advice overall, but call me bitter (lots of student loan debt)..i had a hard time taking will smith and sam. jackson seriously when they never have to worry about money…ever. or any other celebrity for that matter.

9:29 – How did they find all these people who don’t know what the S&P 500 was? Maybe it’s just me, but I knew at 13…

I have no clue what that is. I’m 24 and no one (not even my parents) taught me anything about money or how to simply save let alone invest it into something.

I saw most of the show (except for the Will Smith lead in) and agree with everything that was said. As a financial consultant I wish as part of the retirement planning they would have mentioned the Roth IRA. A lot of people have no 401(k) and those people most need the Roth. It also seems a bit remiss to not mention mutual funds if discussing stocks and bonds.

I somehow thought from your posts you would have been a member of the Can’t Hardly Wait generation like myself. Seth Green pretending to be hip hop is about the funniest thing that I’ve ever seen. I guess humor is personal, but if you’ve seen Cribs and like Seth Green, you will find that hilarious.

I’ve heard quite a lot about this special, although I didn’t actually catch it. It sounds mildly intriguing, and most of the advice it’s attempting to share sounds good (although, restricting yourself to one credit card seems to be going a bit far).

I don’t have cable and I’ve missed the hype about this show, so I have no idea what’s going on! lol

But, I found myself skipping ahead in reading what you’ve posted here. Not that I find you boring, but I don’t really get into things where “celebrities” try to come off as being responsible and have something witty and groundbreaking to say regarding personal finance. I don’t know. I wasn’t impressed, but maybe I just need to see it. I think they need to put financial education in the school curriculum and stop trying to pretend like they care by gathering a bunch of A, B, and C-listers to comment on the state of the economy.

This is a good summary you presented. Rather or not it was good or just entertaining, at least someone is trying to make an effort in directing people towards financially stability.
