With gas prices rising so much, it’s been irresponsible of me to not mention some of the great rewards programs with credit cards today. I have to admit to that credit cards are not for everyone. If you have trouble with controling your spending and staying in a budget, this probably isn’t for you. However, if you are reading this, you are likely to have enough self-control to take advatage of the rewards programs.
Citibank’s Citi Cards and Chase Credit Cards both offer cards that give you 5% cash back on groceries, drug stores, and gas stations. Chase has another that offers a 3% cash back at restaurants, office supply stores, and home improvement stores.
I take advantage of all these cards (and pay them off every month). A bonus tip that I have for you is to buy gift cards at drug strores with the 5% card. The cards make it difficult to get a break down of the rewards, but I think this works. If it doesn’t work, you will have lost nothing.
Update: These cards from Chase and Citibank doesn’t seem to be available anymore. Instead, I suggest you look at these credit card recommendations.

There is also a nice Discover Gas card with 5% cash back on gas and a 1% cash back bonus on ther purchases automatically, no annual fee and 0% Intro APR on purchases and Balance transfer
