Personal Finance Links: Thanks For All the MonaVie Mentions |
9 Comments |
As some of you know, I put a call out on Monday to spread the word of MonaVie's lawyers bullying tactics. I should have also mentioned about their employee calling me an annoying douche. Well I gave them a fun response that basically amounted to "stuff it on your legal threat" and "teach your employees to be a little more mature. I've also been spending a lot of time this week ramping up Juice Scam - a new site devoted to putting a critical eye to MonaVie. Each time MonaVie tried to smack me down, I'm going to take the battle to another level. We'll see how long it takes for them to learn.
I'd like to thank all those that put out articles this week. I'm indebted to you all. There are a couple that I'd like to recognize:
- Everyday Finance also contributed a whole article to MonaVie. I liked the chain of events the best. He's been helpful to me. He knows where I come from since he has been there before with Shop To Earn.
- Patrick of Cash Money Life wrote an outstanding article on whether MLM's are a business opportunity or a scam. It was almost as if he read the 3300 comments in my original MonaVie article, because he nailed so many of the points, including key links to the FTC. If there's one article to read on MLMs, this has to be it.
- The Digerati Life and Four Pillars spent a whole paragraphs on my plight this week. I think Miranda from Yielding Wealth submitted my article to Reddit where it did quite well. Living Off Dividends had a great article about his past legal battles (well worth reading).
- Other websites who contributed are Too Much Food in Beijing, Jammer Six, Girl Robot (Yay, fellow Settlers of Catan lover), The Writer's Coin, My Two Dollars, AmThrax, Penny and Nickel to Wealth, and Strangely Perfect
- And there were too many tweeters for me hit all of them, but a these are some I found: @jtymes @retSav @moneyhighway @joetaxperblog @lindaph @scottdennison @georgewenzel @ckstevenson @marcbever @MoneyEnergy @Green_Panda @MMarquit @fiscalgeek @anicol @thegoodhuman @nodebtplan @RevancheGS @mapgirlsfc @doctor_s @EZF_TopMoms @FiscalFizzle @extremejacob @MoneyEnergy @fiscalgeek @3princessesmomm
It's a lot of work to go through all these. I'm bound to have missed several people by just the shear numbers. I apologize in advance.

I can’t believe you linked to that Living With Dividends post. Did you read the part where he was bragging about intentionally infringing another company’s trademark to grow his own business? Is that really what you want to be associated with? Definite credibility hit.
I’m mentioning your MonaVie fight in The Casual Observer tomorrow (Monday). You’re in the same article with Troy Tulowitzki and Annie Le (obviously, a bit of a “grab bag” article)
And I, uh, used MonaVie as a meta keyword …
I thought it was refreshing that Living with Dividends was open and honest in telling it. I didn’t see any bragging especially when he said, “But would I do it again – definitely not.” We all make mistakes, at least he learned from it.
Linking to the story is not saying that I condone the behavior any more than the evening news covering a murder condones murdering someone.
I simply believe it is a worthwhile read.
The only thing worthwhile about that Living With Dividends read is learning that his writing isn’t worth reading. The guy admits to lacking business ethics which is no doubt why he is involved in so many lawsuits.
I believe that was in the distant past and when he was much less wiser. If he said he was currently engaging in such tactics, I would agree with you.
It’s a huge difference in my opinion.
Well, you are definitely not alone in the fight against MonaVie. Lots of us are behind you!
Good luck with the MonaVie nonsense – I can`t believe what a bunch of idiots they are.
Best of luck with this ordeal. It is certainly a learning experience (for many of us learning though you as well!).
Thanks for mentioning my article. :)
Gosh, MonaVie should definitely rethink their horrible strategy. I seriously fail to understand how they can send their lawyers after people trying to express their opinions. It almost convinces me that they are scam, and I will tell everyone I know to stay away from products from these bullies.
