Personal Finance Links (Our Marley, McGruber) |
1 Comment |
This weekend, my wife introduced me Marley and Me (the movie). She had seen it on the way back from a business trip. If you've seen it, it sums up our life in the last month. Jake is growing faster than he's learning and it's leading to a situation where he doesn't understand his own strength. He also has teeth that are just like vampire's - probably worse. There have been good moments this weekend. Sometimes he's behaved so well, that we joke that Fred is here... Fred being the someone else's well-behaved dog because he certainly can't be Jake. I'll be trying to step up his training this week - it would be nice to have more Fred moments than Jake ones.
In other news, I'd like to give thanks to my friend Kosmo at The Casual Observer for leaving a comment on McGruber reminding me to post the video below. I had meant to link to this before now, but it didn't seem available right away.
While on the topic of Kosmo and his site, I should have mentioned that Kosmo has a stock market contest that I participated in. I don't know why I set myself up to lose these things. I'm certain not a "Goliath" as he says.
And now to the Personal Finance links

Thanks for the PR, Lazy Man. Someone else mentioned McGyver in the comments, and my brain does an immediate word association to McGruber. I wonder how much McGruber has boosted the sales of McGyver DVD sets?
Regarding the stock market contest:
The gist is 3 personal finance bloggers vs. 3 ordinary Joes. You can also submit your own guess by leaving a comment. We’re past the cutoff for me to officially score the new entries, but if you’re spot-on with your guess, I’ll still point out how smart you are in the monthly updates. Each of the 6 contestants analyzes the reasons for their guess.
About the site:
I almost hesitate to use the term blog, since we break from the traditional blog format of delving deeply into a particular niche (a great format that works very well for a lot of folks).
I have begun marketing the site as “a web magazine that covers a world of topics every week”. We hit everything from sports to “real news” and also have a new fiction short story on Fridays. In an effort to pursue a 1:1 writer:reader ratio (I’m kidding – I think), we have brought onboard a weekly sports columnist and weekly entertainment writer (Bob Inferapel’s first piece should appear next weekend).
Try us for a week to get a feel for the site. If you don’t like it, simply return the unused portion for a full refund.
