We run almost everything through our credit card in order to get cash back. Does it change our buying habits? No. We're not going to buy twice as many diapers simply because we're using the credit card. We don't tend to be very impulsive shoppers, either, so that helps. Regarding your comment on lack of self-discipline, it is the NUMBER ONE thing I see as I travel the nation teaching personal finances. I believe that lack of a plan, self-discipline, and organization are the top reasons for financial failure. Your point about credit cards is great as well.
