It's one thing to show, "I've done this task and had this responsibility in the past." It's another to show, "This international organization says that I'm smarter than 49 of 50 people you are going to bring in here." Of course, I'm not saying that's true, but I'm not going to argue if it's to my advantage. If nothing else it shows that I can market myself. I'm not currently a member - it has a yearly subscription associated with it. Since, I didn't care for the social aspects of it (perhaps I should have for networking), I found little advantage to keeping current. As a software engineer, I'd probably put it at 4th (or D to keep with the lettering scheme). Depending on the company, I would bump it ahead of C, but my current company is not as interesting to me as I would like it to be. I also think you need to believe in the product a lot and while it's good short term, I don't like it's long term prospects.
