Got a list of what I'd need. Conveniently had most of it in a file already. Yesterday it took me all of 20 mins to complete my taxes and submit. Waiting on acceptance by the gov. It probably wouldn't have even taken me 20 mins but there were 2 points in the forms that I was confused on and kept getting errors for that I didn't understand and it didn't explain very well why (one was the savers credit page and I don't remember the other). Well, they were MY issues lol and I must have been having a duh moment. Once I got past those everything else was extremely easy. On thing I missed though - when I used TurboTax they had a nice extra page attached to my return saying "If your income increases by X-amount you will be in the next tax bracket X%. You can plan for this by.....". I use that to adjust my pre-tax options for health, retirement, etc. at work as well as charitable donations (I'd rather give away a little more $ to people locally than the fed gov.). I'd say this free try has hooked me. I saw several instances where TaxCut was more thorough and easier to understand than TurboTax (of the past at least). And I think this years TaxCut is better than last years. I'd say I'm sold, even if I don't get it free, it would be worth $20. Crashed when I installed it, and crashed several times during use. Interface was lousy. I had to drop into the forms interface for several "common" issues.
