Consumer Reports Online – A Good Value?

As some of you know, my fiancee and I have been having some trouble creating our wedding registry.  I don't know why it didn't occur to me earlier, but shouldn't we make sure that everything we're getting on the list is of quality?  So should we pay the $26 for an annual subscription?  I could do the $5 monthly subscription, but I get the feeling that if it's useful, we'll be using it throughout the year.

Has anyone gotten the online subscription?  Anyone have an opinion to the value of a subscription?

My husband and I sign up for the $5 online subscription from time to time, essentially whenever we need to buy a major home appliance. (Most recently a new dishwasher, prior to that a new washing machine.) We never buy a major appliance w/o reading consumer reports first. I don’t think it’s worth the early subscription, because you’re probably not making major purchases all year long. Just pay the $5 whenever there is something specific you’re interested in researching.
