Congratulations on the PT consulting job, Lazy Man! Can you give us some idea of what type of consulting you’re doing? Is it PF-related, or blog-writing related? As for the income drop, it may be temporary: who knows where the consulting business will lead you?

Tank? an island? Wow … too much for me … I just would rather have a small vacation house near the ocean .. of course … i’d like it to have an internet connection so I can do all my blogging there .. LOL

I like the idea of owning an island as well. In college I talked with some friends about this. The problem is that islands aren’t cheap. And once you get an island, you need to invest in roads, water distillation, electricity, etc. It’s a slippery slope.

Dividend Growth Investor, I don’t currently break out all parts of alternative income. I think I know what I need to do.

Lazy Man,

I was wondering if you could post some details behind your alternative income numbers. If you break it down by source type ( adsense/online advertising, dividend, interest etc) we could be better able to advise you.
If not I hope that your overall income rise above $2000.

I think I would much prefer to own an island than a tank. I was really surprised at how attainable it is to purchase a modest sized island. It’s actually one of my real goals with no future date planned. One day I’ll own my island . . . and some cannons, if you own an island it must be armed with cannons.
